Are there limits on how many API requests I can make?

The number of API requests you can make depends on your chosen subscription plan. Each plan includes a monthly request allowance, giving you predictable usage and cost control.

Subscription-based request limits

BigDataCloud offers several subscription tiers, each with a defined monthly quota. Once you have chosen a plan, all requests within that quota are included at no additional cost. There are no restrictions on concurrent requests or burst traffic — you can send as many simultaneous queries as your application requires, as long as total monthly usage stays within your plan's allowance.

Pay as you go

If your usage exceeds your monthly quota, you can continue making requests via pay-as-you-go billing. Rather than locking into a higher tier, you start with a plan that covers your baseline needs and pay only for the additional queries you actually use. This makes it straightforward to scale without committing to a larger plan before you need it.

Free APIs

Our free APIs — including the client-side reverse geocoding and public IP endpoints — offer unlimited monthly queries at no cost. These are subject to the fair use policy for their respective endpoints but carry no hard monthly cap.

For details on why we offer free APIs and how they work, read Why is the Reverse Geocoding API free? If you have questions about which plan suits your usage, contact us.
